It is clear that R. Palacio is what the term "one-trick pony" describes. Since the publication of her debut novel, Wonder in — a solid 6 years ago— there has been no other work under her belt outside of this single franchise. It would have made a difference if each publication made within the story's setting was a chronicle say, for popular example, the Harry Potter series; seven books about the same character, but continuously evolving the story , but Wonder was only one story, and none It is clear that R.

However, I am taking in account for Days of Wonder: Mr. Browne's Book of Precepts , We're All Wonders , and The Wonder Journal , which not only doesn't bring anything new to the Wonder setting, but blatantly feels like a cash grab. As I have stated similarly in my review for We're All Wonders , the well-meaning messages and genuinely good themes of tolerance and acceptance are completely negated when those ideas are capitalized to make a quick profit— none of which is donated, even in part, to organizations such as Children's Craniofacial Association CCA , which supports those affected by craniofacial conditions.

Discovering this new publication was a sure let-down, as it is not a new story but a rehash of what has been read before. This edition earns an average of 2 out of 5 stars when factoring in the rating of all previous publications including 4 stars awarded to Julian and 3 to Pluto , Wonder 's saving graces. This is actually 1 book and 3 novellas. The rating of 5 goes to Wonder which is a must read for all ages. The novellas were okay but more of a 3.

Loved this book An uplifting tale of a little boy! The story tugged on my heart strings, made me laugh Parisa rated it it was amazing Sep 25, I love that Christopher has impacted and affected Auggies life, with his pure; continual friendship, has much as Auggie has impacted his life. Palacio continues to create.

For more than twenty years, she was an art director and graphic designer, designing book jackets for other people while waiting for the perfect time in her life to start writing her own novel. But one day several years ago, a chance encounter with an extraordinary child in front of an ice cream store made R. She did not design the cover, but she sure does love it.

The Julian Chapter: A Wonder Story by R. J. Palacio

Listeners get to see him through the eyes of Julian, the bully; Christopher, Auggie's oldest friend; and Charlotte, Auggie's new friend at school. Together, these three stories are a treasure for listeners who don't want to leave Auggie behind when they finish Wonder. Over one million people have read or listened to and loved Wonder. Now listeners will have a chance to hear from the one of the book's most controversial characters - Julian.

From the very first day Auggie and Julian met in Wonder , it was clear they were never going to be friends, with Julian treating Auggie like he had the plague.

And while Wonder told Auggie's story through six different viewpoints, Julian's perspective was never shared. Fans could only guess what he was thinking. Until now. Christopher was Auggie's best friend from the time they were babies until his family moved away; he was there through all of Auggie's surgeries and heartbreaks, through bad times and good--like Star Wars marathons and dreams of traveling to Pluto together.

Alternating between childhood flashbacks and the present day, an especially bad day for Christopher, Pluto is the story of two boys grown apart learning that good friendships are worth a little extra effort. A story about life as a fifth grader at Beecher Prep through the eyes of Charlotte, the girl who had been chosen to be Auggie's "welcome" buddy. Listeners will not only learn more about Charlotte and her budding friendship with fan-favorite, Summer they solve a mystery together , but how the girls at Beecher Prep react to Auggie attending their school for the first time.
